Management

Raising healthy birds requires good management practices. Good management is a critical part of a biosecurity program.  The fact sheets (listed to the right) provide information on a variety of specific management areas that are important in disease prevention. The topics have been selected to provide practical and applied information important for your on-farm biosecurity program. The fact sheets also attempt to answer some very commonly asked questions such as:

  • How do I tell if my birds are ill?
  • How should I dispose of dead stock?
  • How does a disinfectant work and which one works the best?
  • What is a foreign animal disease and why does the government get involved in the disease response?
  • How do I use antibiotics properly and what is antimicrobial resistance?

Read through these management fact sheets and you will see how this information can be incorporated into the flock health and biosecurity programs on your farm.
